Many are aware of the surge in put options purchased on American and United Airlines as well as several major tenants of the WTC in the days preceding 9/11, purchases the 9/11 Commission Report waves away in a footnote on pg. 499 as having no connection with the events of 9/11 because the unnamed “institutional investors” responsible had “no conceivable ties to al Qaeda”. More obscure, and nowhere mentioned in the Commission Report, are the facts of the WTC computer data recovery operation undertaken in late 2001 by Convar GmbH, a German firm. Under conditions of hermetic secrecy, Convar used its proprietary technology to salvage data from the damaged hard drives of WTC tenants, as reported in December 2001 by Reuters and CNN.

“The suspicion is that inside information about the attack was used to send financial transaction commands and authorisations in the belief that amid all the chaos the criminals would have, at the very least, a good head start,” said Convar director Peter Henschel.”

“Richard Wagner, a data retrieval expert at the company, said illegal transfers of more than $100 million might have been made immediately before and during the disaster.”

“There is a suspicion that some people had advance knowledge of the approximate time of the plane crashes in order to move out amounts exceeding $100 million,” Wagner said. “They thought that the records of their transactions could not be traced after the main frames were destroyed.”

“Henschel said the companies in the United States were working together with the FBI to piece together what happened on September 11 and that he was confident the destination of the dubious transactions would one day be tracked down.”

Convar’s website features two videos confirming that Convar GmbH did in fact process the WTC hard drives. http://www.datarecovery-europe.com/ The second examines the disk recovery process in detail, and explicitly acknowleges the transactions in question as “secret, controversial data”.

In the 9/10/2006 episode of the Dutch program Zembla, a Convar representative confirms again the incriminating nature of this data, and does so in a manner that makes clear he has recently been warned against such confirmation.

The widely disseminated claim that Kroll Associates–the powerful private-intelligence firm responsible for some elements of WTC security on 9/11–acquired Convar in June 2002 remains unsubstantiated. What can be verified is that Kroll purchased Ontrack Data Recovery, a US-based rival of Convar with offices in Germany.

After the CNN article of December 20, the US media were stricken mute on the Convar investigation. Of the media blackouts shrouding 9/11, none has been more absolute.

Notice that Convar, its unnamed WTC clients and the FBI possessed these data, and that the FBI would have no reason to withhold the results of its investigation had they proven benign or consistent with the Commission’s account of the attacks.

Consider again Wagner’s inference: “They thought that the records of their transactions could not be traced after the main frames were destroyed.” The locations of the computers in question within the towers is unknown, but if Wagner is correct, two possibilities emerge: (1) either the “insiders” had foreknowledge of the precise impact points of the aircraft (otherwise why assume that the main frames would be destroyed?) or (2) they had foreknowledge of the total destruction of the towers. Upon reflection, for numerous reasons the first possibility recedes into remote improbability. But why would “insiders” assume the total collapse of the towers when there was no historical precedent for such an event and the towers had been designed to survive the impact of fuel-laden 707s at 600mph? http://911research.wtc7.net/wtc/analysis/design.html

If in fact the WTC towers were demolished by explosives, incendiaries or other means, whoever initiated these transactions should be considered suspect for complicity in those acts.

No legitimate reason–in fact no reason whatsoever–for withholding the Convar data has to date been offered.

The Autumn months are never a calm time in America. Back to Work, Back to School, Back to Football Practice, etc. … Autumn is a very Traditional period, a time of strong Rituals and the celebrating of strange annual holidays like Halloween and Satanism and the fateful Harvest Moon, which can have ominous implications for some people.

Autumn is always a time of Fear and Greed and Hoarding for the winter coming on. Debt collectors are active on old people and fleece the weak and helpless. They want to lay in enough cash to weather the known horrors of January and February. There is always a rash of kidnapping and abductions of school children in the football months. Pre-teens of both sexes are traditionally seized and grabbed off the streets by gangs of organized Perverts.

Most of these things are obviously Wrong and Evil and Ugly — but at least they are Traditional. They will happen. Your driveway will ice up, your furnace will blow up and you willbe rammed in traffic by an uninsured driver in a stolen car.

But what the hell. That’s why we have Insurance, eh? And the Inevitability of these nightmares is what makes them so reassuring. Life will go on, for good or ill. The structure might be a little Crooked, but the foundations are still Strong and Unshakable.

The victim met Sandusky through the former coach’s Second Mile charity, Kelly said. Sandusky allegedly used expensive gifts such as trips to professional and college games, golf clubs, a computer and money, Kelly said.

The relationship, which began in 2005 and lasted into 2008, included overnight stays at Sandusky’s home, where touching led to sexual acts, according to Kelly and grand jury testimony.

“One of the most compelling and disturbing pieces of testimony in this investigation came from an eyewitness to a late-night sexual assault that allegedly occurred in March of 2002, in the locker room of the Lasch Football Building on the University Park Campus,” Kelly said. “Hearing what sounded like sexual activity in the showers of a building that was supposed to be empty, a graduate assistant reportedly observed Sandusky sexually assaulting a naked boy who appeared to be about 10 years old.”

The assistant reported the incident to Paterno, who in turn alerted athletic director Curley, Kelly said.

“It was obvious that the witness was distraught over what he saw, but he at no time related to me the very specific actions contained in the grand jury report. Regardless, it was clear that the witness saw something inappropriate involving Mr. Sandusky. As Coach Sandusky was retired from our coaching staff at that time, I referred the matter to university administrators,” Paterno said.

But instead of reporting the incident to authorities, Curley and Schultz banned Sandusky from having children from Second Mile visit the football building, Kelly said.

Specifically, the grand jury found that Curley committed perjury in repeatedly denying that he had ever been told that Sandusky had engaged in sexual misconduct with a child, Kelly said.

“Assertions by Schultz that the allegations concerning Sandusky were ‘not that serious’ and that he and Curley ‘had no indication that a crime had occurred’ were in direct contradiction to other testimony and constituted perjury,” Kelly wrote.

In all, the grand jury identified eight boys, ranging in age from about 8 to 14, who were the targets of similar sexual advances or assaults by Sandusky from 1994-2009. All of the victims first encountered Sandusky through Second Mile activities, Kelly said.

Authorities said they are continuing to search for additional victims and that the case remains active.

As disturbing details continue to emerge about the alleged sexual abuse scandal at Penn State University, Philadelphia’s Fox 29 is reporting that the number of victims of accused abuser Jerry Sandusky could be “closer to twenty”.

There were eight victims named in the grand jury charges, but Fox 29 cites sources claiming that number has “more than doubled” since state officials offered call-in numbers for past victims.

Official VFP Statement Regarding Occupy Incident in Oakland

Veteran For Peace member, Scott Olsen, a Marine Corps veteran twice deployed to Iraq, is in hospital now in stable but serious condition with a fractured skull, struck by a police projectile fired into a crowd in downtown Oakland, California in the early morning hours of today.  Other people were injured in the assault and many were arrested after Oakland police in riot gear were ordered to evict people encamped in the ongoing “Occupy Oakland” movement.  Olsen is also a member of Iraq Veterans Against the War.

VFP members are involved with dozens of these local “occupy movement” encampments and we support them fully.  In Boston, for example, our members, wearing VFP shirts and carrying VFP flags, stood between a line of police and the encampment, urging police to “join the 99%” and not evict the protesters.  In that case, several of our members were banged and bruised when the police decided instead to carry out their eviction orders.

In Oakland, last night, a similar thing happened, according to VFP Chapter 69 member and Navy veteran, Joshua Sheperd, who said he went to downtown Oakland “to see if, as a VFP member, I could help still the anger…to be between the police and the protesters…it seemed unconscionable to me that the police use the cover of darkness like that to do what they were doing.”  Fortunately, he was not injured in the police assault that left Olsen with a fractured skull
 
As with virtually every example of the occupy movement across the country, those encamped were conducting themselves peacefully beforehand, protesting current economic, social and environmental conditions in the U.S. brought about by decades of corporate control, a criminal financial industry and wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that are driving the U.S. global empire into bankruptcy.  These “occupy movement” participants are telling us something we need very desperately to hear.  They should be listened to, not arrested and brutalized.

Police in the majority of cities are acting with restraint and humanity towards the encampments, but Veterans For Peace will not be deterred by police who choose to use brutal tactics.  In fact, as happens with repression everywhere, more people join the cause.  We do believe that the rank and file police officers are part of the 99%,  the overwhelming majority of Americans who are suffering at the hands of an intolerable system.  Layoffs and cutbacks in city after city prove that we must join together to demand justice for all.

We send our very best to Scott Olsen and his family and wish him a speedy recovery to health.

International Hearings on 9/11 to begin in Toronto in September

TORONTO, Aug. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ – A decade after the events of September 11, 2001, which resulted in the immediate deaths of nearly 3,000 people on American soil, countless victims from toxic dust, and hundreds of thousands of deaths in Afghanistan and Iraq, international hearings on this pivotal event will begin in Toronto in September.

The events of September 11 provided a pretext for a War on Terror that has led to military invasions and occupations, and attacks upon civil and human rights throughout the world. The credibility of the official investigation into the events of September 11, 2001, carried out by the U.S. Government between 2003 and 2005, has been questioned by millions of citizens in the United States and abroad, including victim family members, expert witnesses and international legal experts.

To date, open and transparent judicial hearings to question the official evidence provided by the U.S. Government have never taken place in the United States or abroad. Similarly, no perpetrators of the events of September 11 have ever been brought to justice on American soil.

A group of international citizens has therefore undertaken to privately fund and cause these independent hearings to take place. Because of the global ramifications of the events of 9/11, the initiators of this inquest have opted to select an international location outside of the United States for these hearings to proceed. The city of Toronto, Canada was chosen as an ideal “international” location because of its proximity to New York, Washington and Shanksville (the crime scenes).

The focus on military solutions to complex human problems has sidetracked humanity at the very moment when international cooperation is most required to address genuine challenges that humanity faces.

In the meantime, the credibility of the official reports on the 9/11 attacks (by the 9/11 Commission, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other government or government-appointed agencies) has been questioned by millions of citizens in the United States and abroad, including victim family members, expert witnesses and international legal experts.

The International Center for 9/11 Studies has therefore decided to sponsor four days of International Hearings in the city of Toronto, Canada on the 10th anniversary of the events of September 11, 2001. During these Hearings, which will be broadcasted via the Internet, various expert witnesses will present the best available evidence into the case, discovered in the ten years since the 9/11 events occurred.

Objectives of the Hearings:

(3) To submit a record and a summary of the Hearings, together with signed Statutory Declarations by witnesses, to relevant governments, groups and international agencies with the request that a full and impartial investigation be launched into the events of September 11, 2001, which have been used to initiate military invasions and to restrict the rights of citizens.

(4) To engage the attention of the public, the international community and the media through witness testimony as well as through media events broadcasted via the Internet during the four day event.

Location of the Hearings

The Hearings are international, and the location outside the U.S. is intended to give that message. At the same time, there are good reasons to choose a location reasonably close to the attacks of September 11, 2001 so that people directly associated with the events, such as victims’ families, can travel to the Hearings.  Toronto is a 9-hour drive from New York City.  Toronto’s Ryerson University has been chosen as the site of the actual hearings.

Participants

The key participants in the Hearings will be moderators, witnesses, and an independent panel comprised of respected international citizens. Moderators will guide the witnesses and panel through the presentation and discussion of evidence. Witnesses (chiefly expert witnesses, but possibly eyewitnesses as well) will speak of their research findings or experiences and, where appropriate, will formally submit evidence to the panel. An international panel of distinguished citizens will listen to the witnesses, examine their evidence, raise questions and engage in discussion, and submit a report after the conclusion of the Hearings.

Each day of the Hearings will have one or more themes. For example, day 3 of the Hearings (Sept 10, 2011) will focus on the destruction of the World Trade Center. The following individuals have agreed to participate as expert witnesses on this day: Niels Harrit, David Chandler, and Jon Cole.

The Hearings will be moderated by Michael Keefer (Canada) and Matthew Witt (United States) and the final report will be edited by the American attorney James Gourley. Themes on days 1, 2, and 4 will include: al-Qaeda, air defense failures, anomalies of Flights 77 and 93, the nature of false flag terrorism, and psychological resistance to accounts that challenge the official one. Peter Dale Scott, David Ray Griffin, Laurie Manwell, Graeme MacQueen, Lance DeHaven-Smith, and Kevin Ryan are some of the confirmed witnesses. Ever since the FBI claimed (for a second time) that it had discovered in 2008 the identity of the anthrax attacker — the recently-deceased-by-suicide Army researcher Bruce Ivins — it was glaringly obvious, as I documented many times, that the case against him was exceedingly weak, unpersuasive and full of gaping logical, scientific, and evidentiary holes.  So dubious are the FBI’s claims that serious doubt has been raised and independent investigations demanded not by marginalized websites devoted to questioning all government claims, but rather, by the nation’s most mainstream, establishment venues, ones that instinctively believe and defend such claims — including the editorial pages of the nation’s largest newspapers, leading scientific journals, the nation’s preeminent science officials, and key politicians from both parties (led by those whose districts, or offices, were most affected by the attacks).  To get a sense for the breadth and depth of the establishment skepticism about Ivins’ guilt, just click on some of those links.

Since that initial wave of doubt, the FBI’s case against Ivins has continuously deteriorated even further.  In February of this year, a panel of the National Academy of Sciences released its findings solely regarding the bureau’s alleged scientific evidence (independent investigations of the full case against Ivins have been successfully blocked by the Obama administration), and found — as The New York Times put it — that “the bureau overstated the strength of genetic analysis linking the mailed anthrax to a supply kept by” Ivins; the Washington Post headline summarized the impact of those findings: “Anthrax report casts doubt on scientific evidence in FBI case against Bruce Ivins.”

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – U.S. airports may still be vulnerable to terror attacks.  But it’s the Transportation Security Administration that’s in the cross-hairs on Capitol Hill.

Testifying before a House committee this week, Charlotte Douglas Aviation Director Jerry Orr. 

Orr says the TSA is plagued by a “rigid attitude of arrogance and bureaucracy.”

This is about airport security, and some in Congress are saying that we’re no safer now than we were on 9/11.

Wednesday in Congress pointed questions were raised as to why we’re not doing a better job at security.

One of those raising the issue was Charlotte Douglas Airport Director Jerry Orr.

“I have been critical of the performance of the TSA since its inception. I am not critical of its mission. I am critical of its measures,” says Orr.

Billions and billions of dollars have been spent to make airports safer, but at Tuesday’s Congressional hearing the wrap came off.

Since November 2001 – when the government took over security screening - there have been more than 25,000 security breaches at U.S. airports.  That averages out to slightly more than 5 security breaches a year at each of the nation’s 457 commercial airports.

Utah Representative Jason Chaffetz who led the inquiry says it’s clear the airports are not secure.

Despite passengers being asked to dump all their liquids, take off their shoes and even remove their prosthetic breast.

“We will look at the information. We will investigate. We will protect the taxpayer who are paying the bulk of the expenses for the fiasco,” said Representative John Mica of Florida.

The TSA says it’s employing the latest technology and training.  Though 25,000 security breaches in 10 years may sound high the agency says the number is a tiny fraction of one percent of the more than 5.5 billion travelers screened since 9/11.

Security expert de la Guerra says safety is a progressive thing.

“Are we safer today with the technologies we have now?  With the training we have now compared to ten years ago?  Yes we are.  However remember when we’re on this side of the world making counter measures bad guys are on the other side of the world making counter measures to what we’re doing.”

The latest terror threat - ”belly bombs.”  al Qaeda is reportedly working on surgically implanting bombs in human beings.

The Department of Homeland Security recently issued a bulletin warning of renewed interest in the tactic.

Many are asking if our enemies are that determined is there anything that can be done to stop them?
